Forever 21 E-Gift Card Giveaway

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for all your compliments on my homemade Leela and Zapp Brannigan costumes on the previous post. I am tres excited to wear them again on Halloween :)

Just a few quick updates:

*My novel is buzzing along. I just finished Chapter Nine last night and clocked the entire novel in at 53,430 words so far. AMAZING! And while Chapter Ten has just started, I've already brought the count up to 57,080! I'm 23,000 words away from my goal and very excited.

Actually, just writing that now, I think my novel is going to be over 80,000 words which is perfect.

I'm used to writing articles or screenplays (have degrees in Journalism and Screenwriting) so this novel is a whole new direction for me but it's one that I am so glad I took a chance on. Even if nothing comes out of it, I've never been happier than when writing my story.

That's not to say it isn't challenging. Being a writer is like being on a constant emotional rollercoaster. One minute you love it, the next you are sinking to the lowest lows and doubting your ability to write anything at all.

What I have found though - what works best for me - is that I look forward. I rarely read what I have written and just keep plodding my way. I know there are some plot holes and somethings that are happening that I have no explanation for, but instead of worrying about them, I just keep writing and you know what? It works itself out. I think once you trust and know your characters they'll end up taking places you didn't see before.

*Super excited about New Zealand too - the trip has been on the backburner because I have been so devoted to my story but every now and then I remember that I am actually going back and not just dreaming!

*That said, with the upcoming trip and my busy schedule (plus constant bouts of illness) I have decided to close Wanderlusting Style Store on November 1st. So if you want to buy something do it NOW! I appreciate all your support with buying my items and I thank everyone for their patience as I've had quite a bit of bad luck with shipping and in many cases end up paying more than what I was paid for but as long as everyone gets their stuff and is happy with it, then it's all good.

But please, come visit the store before November 1st and I'll throw in another item (of equal or lesser value) in for FREE!

I WILL re-open the store in January - but that doesn't mean everything that is listed now will be available then. A friend of mine makes awesome jewelry and I want to showcase her wonderful gems (she designed my header too) and I have tons of more stuff to list but like I said I just don't have the time to deal with it right now.

OH right. The giveaway!

I'll be sending one lucky winner a $25CDN E-Gift Certificate to Forever 21 - all YOU have to do is comment on this post by answering this simple question:

What movie scares the crap out of you?

OH YES - and if you LINK to this post (let me know, natch) I will enter your name in an extra two times. That's right!

Here is my latest, favourite Forever 21 purchase - a kicky green peacoat I picked up in Portland. Tax free! God bless Oregon.

BTW - FELLOW KIWIS - Faith No More tickets are going on sale shortly for the Auckland and Wellington shows in February. Soundwave Festival in Australia sold out for FNM in eight minutes! Be sure to get those tickets while you can. That's an order!!

Yay good job on your novel work! I so want to do that one day. Will you be posting any sneak peek excerpts? ;)

K, now don't laugh but the scariest movie I've ever seen was... Jurassic Park. Yes. When I was a little whippersnapper and watched this I had to sleep in my parents room for a week afterwards I was that scared of raptors busting in my door at night! I also tweeted your contest if that counts for extra entries...

LOVE this giveaway! Who doesn't like Forever21?!

The movie that scares me the most would have to be The Ring! But it was SO good!!! :)

That's easy, the Sixth Sense scares me every time! I know that it's just a movie, and I've seen it a million times but it makes me jump every single time!

Wanderlusting said...

Missj - Tweeting counts! And - don't laugh also - Jurassic Park is the film that changed my life. Don't ask. But it did. I wouldn't be the same person if it wasn't for that film...saw it 8 times in the theatre :S

Great coat, love the colour/ As far as the movie goes, after watching The Ring, the tv in my bedroom made its way into the hallway for a week!

hmmm...i get scared easily,so i don't watch many scary movies. the last one to really scare me was actually a spanish movie for school called "el orfanato"or, "the orphan". it terrified me. paranormal activity also looks terrifying.

You look so parisian chic with that red beret and green coat!! So cute!! The scariest movie I've seen? The Exorcist hands down! xxoxoxoxo

I love, love, love your green coat!!!

For me, "The Ring" was probably one of the scariest movies I've seen. Took me almost a month to get over looking into the mirror after a shower (for those of you who've seen it, the image of the girl with her hair covering her face was branded onto my brain's image bank!).

Phyllis said...

oh my gosh, im the biggest chicken ever. so almost any scary movie will do it for me. although i've been able to get through the exorcist without freaking out... pretty proud of that.

oh yea, and gotta love oregon and no sales tax! im jealous.

loving your blog!

The Nightmare on Elm Street is probably one movie I can't watch again from when I was younger. It might be 80's cheesy now but Freddy Krueger still scares me.

Fokxxy said...

The movie that scares the crap out of me is High Tension. uber scary.

Hm, scary movies. I haven't seen a scary movie since I saw The Ring.. and actually, I think there was one called White Noise that was terrifying, but ironically I had a dream last night where in my dream I was watching a scary zombie movie, except it was kind of like I was living the movie. And then for some reason I had to watch the movie again, but I didn't want to watch the zombie part. Either way, my dream-movie was pretty scary.

Oh man, a movie that really freaked me out was The Shining. Movies that mess with my mind like that scare me! I love that coat :]

C said...

To be honest, after I watched the movie Scream I refused to answer the phone for weeks. More realistically, though, I HATE the Ring.

katy said...

Pet Cemetery still makes me want to hide under the covers!

Eyeliah said...

so many movies, particualarily The shining - my husband always tries to ge me to watch it to, or turns it on when it's playing on tv. thanks honey.

GS said...

Scariest movie... I think 'The Ring' and 'Signs' (lol seriously!) kept me awake for a few nights in a row.

Three days before I went backpacking in Thailand I was visiting a friend and he was watching 'Hostel' at his house. Now there is a disturbing movie!

PS: Ya this Halloween might be a bit low key. I have a friend who is throwing an event at The Bourbon on Friday though. It's called the Premature Ejaculantern Party. Motto: "because it's okay for halloween to come early" LOL. Other than that, smallish house party on Saturday, but nothing to to the extent of that wicked one you went to!! I'm gonna tell my friend she needs to step up her game! lol.

PSS: I can't find your email on facebook! It keeps saying it doesn't exist and asks me to send facebook spam lol. Clearly I'm computer illiterate today. What to do?!

I used to never be afraid of movies until I saw "Haunting in Connecticut."

Maybe it was because it was allegedly based on a true story, maybe because I live near the town it supposedly happened in, or maybe it was just the creepy imagery, but I had trouble sleeping for like two days after seeing it, haha.

Hephzibah (My delight is in her). said...

That's a lovely lovely coat! I hate scary movies, i can't even watch previews of scary movies (i'm such a coward!) When i was a younger, I watched "IT" with a friend of mine. I didn't watch even ten minutes of it, but it was enough to create a great fear of clowns in me (I'm getting anxious just talking about the movie, hehe!)

I've linked your post on my blog as well =)

well I just saw Paranormal Activity and couldn't sleep so I'll go with that for now.

Oh man, almost any horror movie just terrifies me witless. I have to say though, I was most afraid of either the recent remake of "The Amityville Horror" (I know, dumb, but...I screamed.) OR the early German film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari." I hate the idea of not knowing what is reality! I slept with the lights on after each one!

Also, just got linked here from Delightfully Tacky and am so excited to see that you are local to me! I'm in Victoria! Great great style! So excited to follow you!

Candyman always scared me, I think because the first time I saw it I was 9.

Your green coat is so cute, i absolutely love it!
I would have to say The Exorcist is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. I find it so disturbing and profane. and I usually get nightmares after watching it. The most chilling part about it is how the film was made...i heard while they were shooting the film, weird things kept happening on set. Theres no telling whats going to happen after your done watching it.
Thanks for the great giveaway! :)

When I was in third grade, I went to see a Christmas movie at my school. We all sat on the gym floor with our brown paper bags of stale popcorn. So much fun--UNTIL the movie started! It was A Christmas Carol, the 1951 Alastair Sim version. My hair stood on end. This is the creepiest, scariest movie you ever saw!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvJ8MvUeq34&NR=1 I still despise Dickens.

The Descent terrified me, all of those tiny spaces and close walls.. and the thought of getting trapped in a cave.. I'm not claustrophobic but it still freaked me out!

The movie that scares the most of me is Chucky. My Dad thought showing me then when I was a very young kid would make me less scared. Now, even just seeing pictures of him gives me nightmares for ages, even 20 years later.

Alice said...

the grudge was the movie that stayed with me the longest - i couldn't sleep for ages afterwards because i'd imagine that creepy little dead boy was standing next to my bed, staring at me. *SHUDDER*

Ok, I don't watch a lot of scary movies because I am a huge baby so The Ring scared the eff out of me... Doesn't take much.
How long are you in NZ?

myedit said...

Oh ya!!! And the Indiana Jones movie where they have human sacrifices and the priest takes out peoples' hearts. You need to understand, we did not have a tv growing up, so watching this at a friend's house was a big deal. I cried and I couldn't sleep all night... haha

Congrats on your novel's progress! So exciting! :) I know exactly how you feel, but with my choreography - total rollercoaster ride. Ugh. But you're right - somehow, it always works out and comes together. I seem to forget that, though, with each new project...

There are several movies that scare the crap out of me... in general, anything where something or someone jumps out of nowhere - HATE it!! That includes Jurassic Park, Aliens... oh, OH! The most recent scare-the-crap-outta-me movie was I Am Legend. Those stupid zombie-creature things that Will Smith was hiding from were awful. I left the theater and cried, I was so stressed out. Yep, I'm lame!

Hmm...the scary movie? When I was 8 I watched Indiana Jones: The Lost Ark..Most of it wasn't scary...but the ending where the people melt and turn in to ghosts scared me for many, many nights after. I wasn't able to sleep. I watched it again and wondered why I was scared.

Congrats on your novel! I love writing, but I can never set myself to finish anything except short stories. Ugh. I'll try to set up a more specific goal and get to writing a novel soon.

Hmm, about the movie. It'd have to be Child Play, you know, the one with the scary crazy toy. I've never seen all of it, since it scared the hell out of me, but I loath it.
