Perricone Giveaway

Hi y'all.

This week's giveaway is an amazing one - not only because it's brought to you by the famous Perricone skin care brand, but because it addresses the main skin issue that I myself have: large pores.

Perricone M.D. is well-regarded for its innovative approach to skin care. One of its main ingredients is DMAE or Dimethylaminoethanol,an antioxidant membrane stabilizer. When taken orally or applied topically, it helps to firm, smoothe, and brighten skin. It also enhances the effects of other antioxidants like alpha lipoic acid and Vitamin C ester. As a result, DMAE works best when used in combination with other nutrients and an antioxidant base.

I myself have been taking this orally for the last couple of months and it is working wonders on me - I have been happier, I'm suffering less distractions (sometimes I think I am borderline ADD) and I feel good knowing that the oil is helping my brain and heart function.

So I can only imagine how great this supplement is when used topically in a skin care product.

The item I am giving away is the Skin Clearing Cleanser, which addresses the problem of large pores. If you are anything like me, you have to deal with oily skin, breakouts and the appearance of large pores - it is a daily struggle for me, and despite assumptions, one does not always look their oily skin as they sink deeper into adulthood.

This deep-cleaning acne cleanser helps to clear troubled skin by reducing excess sebum and eliminating surface contamination's. Skin Clear Cleanser contains the anti-aging ingredient DMAE, which helps to firm and tone skin. Green Tea Extract calms and clarifies while Allantoin helps encourage skin renewal. Click here for
pore refining tips.

I hope to have a sample of this soon to try out myself ( I NEED IT) but in the meantime, one lucky Anywhere But Here reader gets a bottle all to themselves.

To enter this fab giveaway you must:

A) Reside in the US (sorry!)

B)Leave a relevant comment, preferably let me know what skin conditions ail you the most. What has worked for you and what hasn't? (For example, I can tell you that drugstore acne medication does NOT work on me).

Good luck everyone! This contest will run until Friday, October 16th.

And now, back to me:)

Thanks for all your questions on the last post - I was afraid no one was going to ask and I'd consequently look like a big loser. If you wanna know more, just keep asking!

What do you do professionally?
I am a marketing/communications assistant for a global engineering firm (name ommited, but it is - according to wikipedia - is one of the world's largest engineering and architectural design firms, ranked number two by Engineering News-Record and number one by Architectural Record. It has more than 43,000 employees in more than 100 countries and is ranked number 458 on the Fortune 500 list).

I work from 8-430, Monday to Friday. I just had my one-year anniversary on October 1st, which makes it the longest job I have ever had. I tend to bail after 6 months - I need variety! I would have quit long ago but in this economy, I should be grateful I have a steady, well-paying job with benefits...even though it bores me to tears. But there are positions opening up where I will get to focus on more writing and PR stuff - my journalism degree finally coming in handy. At the moment I do write (company blog) but there's a lot of inane admin crap as well that I deal with. If I don't move up by March, I'll actually be laid off (my position is becoming obsolete) - which I am looking forward to...EI baby!

What do you do in your down time, hobbies other than fashion?
Write. At the moment, I probably write for 3 hours a day. Read...I have four books I am dabbling in at the moment: Wizard and Glass from The Dark Tower Series, Free Food for Millionaires, The List of Seven and Veronica. Also read tons of magazines and blogs. I listen to music, constantly. I ride my bike. I watch DVD's with my bf. On Sundays I watch Simpsons, Cleveland Show, Family Guy and American Dad (that's the only TV I watch religiously...until Lost comes back on). I eat. Surf the internet. Shop online. Plan vacations. Make love, haha. Oh...and blogging!

What is your signature alcoholic beverage?
Why, the Caesar, of course!

What has been your motivation to keep up with the blog for all of the four years?
Wow - good question! Years ago I would have said validation. Now it's because I like to share...and I feel like this blog will come in handy someday. For what, I don't know...

When are you coming back to Australia?
Eek. No idea. I would love to go back - I am sad that I missed the West Coast entirely. I'll probably return in the next 5-8 years :)

Why are you so cool? ;)
You must have me mistaken with someone else.

How tall are you?
Average, on the side of short. I am technically 5'5" and 3/4, but with my posture it's less rather than more.

Which country are you craving to visit but haven't had the chance to do so yet?
Hmmmm. Botswana. Argentina. Brazil. Chile. Zimbabwe. Morrocco.

What is it that you're writing everyday? Is it a novel / fiction, autobiography, screenplay?? And will we ever get to read some of it? :)
It's a novel...well, will be the first in a series of novels. It is my first novel too, I have only written screenplays before. It is a whole different ballgame, let me tell you. With screenplays I follow a very rigid structure and can bang out 110 pages in a few weeks. This will take me a lot longer but I'm keeping on. I'm at 16,000 words already, don't think I've ever written so much!

Yes, you probably will get to read it. One day. If you wish :)

Favorite Beatles song?
Do you know how hard that question is?? It is actually impossible for me to answer...but the first three songs that popped into my head were: Something, Yesterday, Ticket to Ride.

Can you tell us about your travels?
Well, I've been to a lot of places with my family growing up...our usual haunts were Palm Springs, Maui, Mexico, Norway and Finland.

When I turned 18 I started doing solo backpacking...started with New Zealand, then Australia, then did a stint around Europe for 3 months, then went back to Spain to teach English, then went to Italy to teach English...went to France and Scotland and Mexico somewhere in between there too. And Maui again. And Palm Springs several times more. And Disneyland - been there 4x since 2000. Love Disneyland.

Next up: New Zealand (in 45 days) for a month, then Sweden (and Norway or Finland) in July. Might join my dad as crew on his boat in August when he sails it down from Vancouver to Mexico, again.

You said you grew up all over- is that what gave you your wanderlust? Well my one-word answer might have been misleading...I grew up all over the lower mainland of Vancouver. Born in Richmond...then lived in Point Grey...then in West Vancouver...then in Bowen Island...then in Tsawwassen....then in New Zealand...then in Kamloops...then in Downtown Vancouver...and now in Tsawwassen, again.

I don't know if that contributed to my wanderlust but having foreign parents who love to travel (my mother was a flight attendant with Air Canada for 30-years) definitely helped. I know moving around a lot has left me very adaptable and independent - two qualities about myself that I cherish above all else.

Most embarrassing moment?
I've had many.

This one takes the cake, though.

I was in Rome, taking the train from the hotel to the airport. I had my big ol' backpack and was wearing this new dress and boots that I had bought. I walked off the train and walked through the station and into the airport. I got on the moving walkway and stood there for a bit. I'd probably been on the move for 10 minutes.

I had noticed, though, that many people would turn around and look at me as they walked past. I figured it's because I was blonde and in Italy...no brainer.

So I'm standing there and these American girls tap me on the shoulder as they walk past. One leans in and whispers in my ear.

"Excuse me, but your dress is tucked up into your backpack."

They ran off, giggling. In horror I reach back and realize, yes, my dress is tucked up in my backpack, meaning my bare ass (I was wearing a thong) was hanging out in FULL display for the whole world to see for the last 10 minutes.

Utter mortification. Ironically, I had done this before, in a bar in Lyon, France...unknowingly tucked my skirt in my underwear and paraded past a group of guys.

Understandably, I'm very paranoid about this now.

This is a fab giveaway, and I would love to try the cleanser as much as you.
I have suffered bouts of severe acne on my face and my back. Over the counter drugstore washes don't help in the least, and I have tried almost every prescription pill, cream, wash and gel they make except Accutane. I have finally found a regimen that is working great! I take 2 doses of minocycline (a strong skin oriented antibiotic)a day, wash with baby shampoo in the evening, and just luke warm water no soap on the morning. I also apply Atralin Gel at night, which is a tretinoid. I would highly recommend that gel to you! After 6 months on it my skin has taken on this fabulous glow and my pores seem to have become less visable.

Anyway, I guess I just wanted to say I feel your pain regarding your skin being an everyday hassle! I will probably be on meds for it forever, but the scars (physical and emotional) will be with me forever as well!

You are so damn funny! My stomach hurts from laughing so hard. My skin is both oily and dry. I break out on my chin occasionally because I tend to drool in my sleep. I have never tried this product, but would love to through this giveaway!

Thanks for the laugh today:)

Awesome giveaway!
I've inherited my Mom's skin which means large pores, blackheads, pre-menstrual acne and oily T-zone with dry cheeks...yeah I got it ALL!

What works: Cetaphil is my thing. Moisturizer for face, facewash, and cream for body. While it does not make skin better it does not aggravate anything which is what I strive for at this point. Proactiv does NOT work - too harsh for me. Tea Tree oil work on the oily parts but dries out the rest. CLinique anything is poop. DDM is very nice...light and non-greasy, does not cause acne or aggravate anything, does not clog pores, but $$$$.

Your embarrassing story is too funny, I hope its ok to laugh now since its long over! I am paranoid about that too, and it hasn't even happened to me before!

I would love to try this product, the drug store stuff doesn't work for me either, and I have sensitive skin so this would be great for me!

fantastic giveaway!

you asked for a relevant comment, so here are a few things i've tried to no avail: proactiv, clearasil, benzoyl peroxide from the doctor, antibiotics of some kind from the doctor, aveeno, noxzema, and many more.

i took accutane which was terribly rough (mainly because i had to give blood EVERY month!) but it worked while i was on it.

now i try just about anything else that makes me look less broken out-y.

It was interesting to get to know more about you...I must admit that your embarrassing story just totally made my night...It was hilarious but mortifying.

P.S. I've changed my site and was wondering if you would please change my link in your blog roll to my current address: http://www.withlovegabrielle.com/blog/

Thanks a million!

Awesome giveaway!

I have acne and am rapidly spiraling towards thirty (how sad is that.) What's helped me so far is drinking plenty of water, avoiding stress (HAH!) and using facial masks occasionally. What's completely failed to work is pretty much every drug store acne treatment ever invented.

I'm a airline kid, too. My mom worked for Delta for nearly all of my childhood, and I have similar funny travel stories. I tucked my dress into my underwear on a transatlantic flight one time. Thankfully, the flight attendants pointed it out to me, tragically, however, not until I had walked all the way up the aisle and almost to my seat.

Hey,
Love your blog and giveaways!
I actually didnt start having bad skin or monthly breakouts till I was around 21, I tried everything over the counter... Clearsil, Clean and Clear and finally that laser thing ( it costs like $200)...nothing worked. I started seeing a derm every four monthes and using a prescription face wipe, taking an antibiotic and using a cream. The weird thing is I only noticed an improvement on the breakouts I used to get on my back. My face has mostly cleared up but I have large pores as well and I noticed that using a primer before you put foundation on can help cover them.

Anyways, I hope I win cause I could really use the product!

Thanks,

Oh god, honey! That story is so mortifying... all the more reason to keep me paranoid about wearing tights under my dresses D:

And to enter me in the contest...
Like you, I have huge pores. Huge pores with oily skin that have blackheads & white heads. I can scarcely remember a schoolbook picture where I didn't have a small sprikling of zits all of my face....

As I'm older, the zits are less frequent, but the large, clogged pores are still there, and so is the super shiny t-zone by lunch... I'd love to kick this in the bud! (Next stop: washing my face in oil!)

So, what ails me? Big A** pores! :)
And I used to use Ponds, but it started to make me breakout! Gah!
P.S. What's the Caesar? Sounds tasty!

I'm at that strange age when you're skin gets extremely dry, but still breaks out. I really think God is playing a trick on us when She gives us acne when we finally have boobs!

I have combination skin and frequently break out. I used to use the Clinique Acne Solutions line which works really well! the Murad line is another great set of products! I'd love to try Perricone though! :)

This looks really good. My secret for zapping a zit quick is Avon's "clearskin professional invisible blemish treatment" what a mouthful! It really works if you use it at night, the next day it's practically gone!

Dry skin, dry skin, dry skin!

It's the curse of the Mile High City ...

oooh, i'm so feeling that story right now! ;)

so what's my skin situation? i wouldn't complain... except that pregnancy left me with some noticable discoloration on my cheeks. i try not to be too vain... but, it is my face, ya know? at any rate, i've been wanting to tryi Perricone products for a while and this would be a fabulous opportunity.

what has worked -- or not? i can't do cheap products. or rather, i haven't/won't. it's worth it to me to splurge. i really like the brightening line from Clarins and La Mer's moisturizer (only in fall/winter months).

i've found that the more things i use on my skin, the more it acts up. so i've pared down my skin routine to using only st ives olive oil cleanser when i take a shower. i've also found that around my period, i'll start to break out around my jaw, so my dermatologist gave me some antibacterial cream or something which WORKS WONDERS. the only other tool in my arsenal is clean & clear advantage, when i start to get a really ugly-looking pimple. most other things dry my skin out, so that's my biggest concern: gentle on my skin.

At 33 years old, my skin is in this strange middle-of-the-road phase. While I am starting to see some fine lines (yikes!), I still get breakouts. With my combination skin type, I think what bugs me the most are the large pores and constant blackheads on my nose. Although I have tried both drugstore and expensive brands, I STILL haven't found a cleanser that effectively addresses all of these issues.
Thanks so much for the fabulous giveaway - I would be SO thrilled to win!

I have always had skin problems and still go to a dermatologist, and I'm 31! This product sounds like something that would work for me.

I am sorry I had to laugh so hard at your embarrassing story. Because I have done the same exact thing twice myself. Although I wasn't wearing a thong.

You name it, my skin has it: uneven texture, acne, oily patches, dry patches, and early signs of aging. I've tried everything. My latest craze has been with the Bare Escentuals line...they just came out with a cleanser...did nothing for me. I'm a mid-30's mom who is hoping to have her acne in check by the time her daughter reaches puberty so that we aren't sharing the same products. Help! My sister uses Perricone MD products and raves about them so I hope to get a chance to try it out!

I have had acne since high school. the acne impacted me psychologically and physically. I became very self conscious of my look, particular my skin. My pores became enlarged because of the acne and acne scars. I have iced picked scars left over after many years or combating acne. So, I always put on makeup everyday everywhere I go even if it means just go out for 5 minute grocery shopping because my mind is telling me that I must cover those horrible acne scars. I become extremely conscious of the enlarged pores. I have very oily skin and hair. I've tried almost everything out there. All the drug store brands for acne skin including neutrogena, phisoderm, clean and clear, Olay, Biore, Aveeno, cetaphil etc. I've also took Antibiotics my doctor prescribed for acne. It did help for short term, but once i'm off the antibiotics, my acne came back. I've also tried chinese herbal medicines for acne, it didnt work either. Higher end brands I've tried are shiseido, dior, chanel, Md Perricone. But so far, I think the one thing works is Murad skin clear dietary supplement. I think it really helps to keep skin acne clear as it contains many types of vitamins for your body. It is not harmful to the body, unlike antibiotics and it can be taken as a multivitamin too. Now, I'm trying out MD Perricone skin clear supplement. I've just oredered the supplement from beauty.com. It will come soon. I will let you know how that supplment works out for me. I'm still seeking for the best acne treatment out there and will continue seeking unless my acne clears out on my face. God help me!!

annalene said...

i pretty much have the exact same skin woes as you. none of it is too extreme, but all the little problems just add up like crazy. the enlarged pores, oiliness and uneven skin tone are probably what bother me the most.

most skin cleansers don't work for me. but worst of all is that i have a really hard time finding a clean, pure cleanser that works rather than something thats full of chemicals. i'd actually rather have terrible skin than use a bunch of synthetic chemicals all over my face. if the perricone cleanser is effective its ideal!
